Lingaraj Success Story . Rural Entrepreneurship

A New Life For Lingaraj

Lingaraj is a young man from Koppal who found himself unemployed due to circumstances beyond his control. The training gave him the confidence to explore other possibilities.

Before Lingaraj joined the Head Held High Program, he was working on a dairy farm with his parents. Things were going well when he first started with the dairy farm – the job was hard work but also had good pay. Due to the water in the bad bore well, the dairy farm was closed in 2017 leaving Lingaraj unemployed and in search of work in this village.

The Head Held High program gave him the confidence to make a fresh start. He started a small eatery. The program trained him with business and communication skills in order to make his business grow. Using those skills, he further started his own small hotel with a diverse menu. Aside from the hotel, he started a small Kirana store in Koppal, offering mobile recharges and a mini ATM service. With the skill set he gained from the program, he can now successfully manage multiple business ventures. He also helps and guides his parents in an agriculture business – he works in the fields when he has some spare time. Lingaraj earns anywhere between 20-25 K in a month – more than he can hope for in any city job.
