Head Held High (HHH) in collaboration with Tata Trust, conducted a well attended workshop at Nagpur on March 09, 2017. This was a half-day effort to unlock the mysteries of trainee mobilization. We have been facing the challenge of attracting trainees from BPL/drop out category.
The workshop was conducted at Matru Sewa Sangh College, covering seven existing partners in Nagpur. These partners are NGOs committed to education, poverty eradication and brought in lot of lessons, insights and passion to the workshop. We demonstrated the activity oriented tools, formats and strategy. The participating partners included names like Dhartimata Society, DYMMF, Sahyadri Foundation, Yashodhara, Yuvak Kalyan Samajik, MSS Anandwan from Warora, Montfort Institutions from Mohop and ICID Jaripataka.
The second event at same venue was for popularizing HHH Fellowship program. More than 90 interested students and professionals attended this event organized by Rohan D’Souza of HHH, Bangalore. This was focused on teaching as a career for rural development.
Earlier in the day, there was live mobilization in Atkar layout, a predominantly Muslim community area, near Umred road. Our partner DYMMF did a stellar job of hosting 40 families of this area. We presented HHH videos, interacted with shy trainees, did a English learning jig and encouraged them to sign up for this life changing experience called Make India Capable (MIC) program. Most of them understood the importance of the program and have expressed their interest to be a part of it.
Later in the day, we signed off with a successful press conference at Tilak Press Club, Nagpur. We met 21 regional language press correspondents with regional handouts. We were asked lot of questions as the program was deemed unique. Few of them met our partners at the press meet and wanted to know the local centre addresses, to make it more popular. Eminent newspapers like Times of India and Dainik Bhaskar covered a detailed report on their March 10, 2017 issue.
